City Water Project Impacts O Street Traffic Starting on June 9
GREELEY, Colo. — A City of Greeley water project will close a section of O Street between North 25th and North 23rd Avenues starting on June 9. The city expects the project to take around two months.
Detours
Motorists who use O Street between 11th and 35th Avenues can go north to AA Street or south to 4th Street to avoid the closure. Please follow the posted detour signage. Access to Platte Valley Youth Services and the Weld County Jail from O Street will be maintained for law enforcement.
County Road 37 will be closed for the initial stage of the project. It will reopen at O Street for eastbound traffic from July 7-24. The city expects to be done repaving the impacted section of O Street during the first week of August.
Enjoy the Fireworks!
The city’s chosen contractor, Reynolds Construction LLC, will suspend work on the project from June 27 through July 7 to accommodate increased traffic to the Greeley Independence Stampede and the Fourth of July fireworks show.
What is Being Done?
This project is important to improve water service and fire protection for the community. Reynolds Construction is installing about 2,000 feet of 16-inch PVC water pipe, connecting it to existing pipes at both ends. The project also includes adding a new fire hydrant and two Air Release Vacuum Valve (ARV) vaults. These ARVs help keep pipes working smoothly by getting rid of air pockets that can block the flow of water. They can also let air back into the pipes when needed so a vacuum doesn’t form, which could damage the pipes.
Strong and Dependable System
While traffic changes can be inconvenient, these projects are important to ensure Greeley’s water system is strong and dependable. The Water and Sewer Department appreciates your patience as we work to improve the city’s infrastructure.
