Joint Hazmat and Law Enforcement Exercises Planned for August 6 and 8
GREELEY, Colo. — The Weld County Office of Emergency Management, in collaboration with the Greeley Fire Department and the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, will partner with the Colorado National Guard’s 8th Civil Support Team to conduct joint hazmat and law enforcement exercises on August 6 and 8.
These scheduled exercises aim to establish and enhance cooperation among local, state and federal agencies in response to incidents involving simulated hazardous materials, particularly in situations where local response agencies require additional specialized resources.
To prioritize safety, the team has intentionally planned to hold the activities in areas away from densely populated regions; however, some activities may be noticeable within the city. The exercise on Tuesday will be held at the University of Northern Colorado Lawrenson Hall, while the Thursday exercise will take place at Island Grove Regional Park.
The movement of responder vehicles and operational actions during these exercises may pose risks to onlookers. Individuals should refrain from entering areas designated as "Exercise in Progress" or "TRAINING" to ensure both the continuity of training activities and their own personal safety.
For any inquiries regarding the exercise activities, please contact Battalion Chief Chris Mirowski from Greeley Fire at 970-815-1123 or via email at
