Motorists will be redirected through Monfort Elementary parking lot.
GREELEY, Colo. — Beginning June 16, access to Monfort Park from the north parking lot off 20th Street will be temporarily closed. Visitors will need to use an alternate route for approximately one month.
Greeley Water and Sewer is upgrading its sewer system by installing a new 12-inch pipe from north of 20th Street to 27th Street. The first phase starts on June 16. Crews will install the pipe under 20th Street, along 48th Avenue Court, and to the west side of the soccer fields at Monfort Park. This will take about four to five weeks. The second phase begins in November, following the conclusion of soccer season. At that time, crews will continue the work across Monfort Park to 24th Street and then resume on 49th Avenue between 25th and 27th Street.
Impact to Residents
During the first phase, the only way to reach the north parking lot will be from 47th Avenue, going through the Monfort Elementary School parking lot. Signs and cones will help direct traffic.
Reason for Project
The goal is to reduce pressure and divert flows away from an older undersized 8-inch sewer pipe under 47th Avenue. By adding this new 12-inch line through Monfort Park, the city can avoid digging up 47th Avenue, which would cause bigger traffic problems and impacts to the community.
Strong and Dependable System
While these changes can be inconvenient, this project helps make Greeley’s sewer system stronger and more reliable.
