Waterline Replacement Project Impacts Farr Neighborhood for Several Months

Release Date:
May 22, 2024

GREELEY, Colo. —The City of Greeley starts work on May 28 to replace an aging waterline under 27th Street between 11th and 15th Avenues in the Farr neighborhood. The existing line from the 1950s is undersized due to infill growth, and after 70 years of service leaks and main breaks are impacting residents.

“The new 12-inch waterline will provide better capacity, redundancy and fire flows for residents and businesses,” said Rebecca Andrus, deputy director of water and wastewater operations for the City of Greeley. “Construction activities will require closing 27th Street for all but local traffic. We thank those affected by this project for their patience and understanding.”

Greeley Water will provide additional project details and traffic impacts to residents who live near the construction area. Drivers should follow detour signs during the project. Farr Park and Hillside Pool will be accessible from 26th Street throughout construction. The city expects the project to wrap up in October.

Greeley has over 670 miles of waterlines to operate and maintain throughout Greeley. Many lines are older, so regular maintenance or replacement keeps the system running well. This project helps the city continue providing reliable, high-quality water to customers.
